June Twilis

June Twilis grew up in 90s KL with limited access to TVs and computers, and so spent much of their childhood reading. To them, books and words are magic that transcends time, space, and consciousness. The most read book on their Kindle is “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. During their free time, they are often consuming copious amounts of art and ice cream, playing sports, and exploring the great outdoors.

“Sunset Chaser”, a compilation of poems and short stories, is June’s debut publication.

Book Reviews

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In Sunset Chaser, June Twills offers a collection of spare, emotionally resonant poems that linger in the reader’s mind like the afterglow of twilight. With a minimalist style and a deep emotional register, Twills crafts verse that captures complex inner worlds using deceptively simple language. June Twills’ poetry feels like a breath of fresh air — gentle, yet deeply awakening. Reading Sunset Chaser is like stepping out of a storm: after all the chaos, there’s calm, clarity, and the quiet promise of a new beginning. Her words offer that shift — into a new era, a new version of self, one that sees the light in every struggle endured. This book invited me to pause and truly reflect — on love, on growth, on contentment. Through her simple yet powerful language, Twills grounds you. Her poetry made me feel held, reminded me of the warmth of simply existing, and showed me how even a few words can change the way life feels. - Adibah Azmain

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a sunset lover, I love how the author made it more specific storytelling and the beauty of the chosen vocabulary made me mesmerized. As for the short story, I adore how the author made the narrative seem easy to visualise the scenery. - aqmir alhamdi

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Sunset Chaser” is the perfect remedy for my reading slump. I love June’s poetry, especially the shorter poems, as I’m fascinated by the subtle nuances in her writing. After finishing the whole collection, I can truly feel the depth of love and hope radiating through Sunset Chaser. It’s a book I know I’ll read over and over again. It’s also a wonderful blend of short stories and poetry, which adds even more value to the book. The nostalgic storytelling gently guides me through the entire journey, allowing me to accept the ending without prejudice. Overall, the poetry carries greater weight and emotional depth compared to the short stories, making Sunset Chaser a truly memorable experience. P.S. Peace, Scatterbrain, Dive & Bookends are my personal favourites. As mentioned earlier, I love those short poems - they really show that these poems have substance over length. - JJ Yong
