Midnight Monologues is Charissa Ong Ty’s first published English Poetry and Short Stories book. The book is categorized into four parts, LOST, FOUND, HOPE and Short Stories. In an age of lesser readers and short attention spans, she hopes this book could stir ideas in the most efficient way possible; through really short, melodious writing.

I enjoy this so much! It is certainly not bad at all considering that it’s her debut collection of short stories and poetry. I bought this at my home from school, and I still have a copy now. Though, I’d say I slightly enjoy the poetry more than the short stories. Some of the poems are so sweet and beautifully written, they almost brought tears to my adolescent eyes. It could be that I am in my teen angst era, her collection of melancholic poetry really hits home. I would sometimes find myself read the collection of poetry at 3 am with my nightlight while looking out my bedroom window. This book will always be personal to me, and I will forever be grateful to Charissa for publishing this wonderful book of hers. Her collection of short stories is also a wonderful read to me. It is enough to transport me to a different reality than the one I’m residing in. I’m hoping one day that I can write short stories as good as Charissa.
